Will the new crop of fake degree scams deter students from online education?

Online education experts at degreeboard.com warned against a new kind of fake diploma scam today. The supposed new species level imitation goes far beyond the qualifications for the purchase have been available to the non-existent and accredited colleges for years, and now means that anyone can purchase a fake degree from the respected institutions as Florida State University. So how will these fakers and fraud affect the future of online education? And what can be done to stop them?

It seems that one of the reasons diploma mills and degree scams are on the social consciousness is at present much due to the current economic climate and its impact on distance learning and online education. In essence, a lack of jobs and increasing redundancy increasing numbers of people return to the education of the head to stimulate access to adult education through distance learning or online cursus is a very economical and accessible way to do today . Indeed, his reports of the growing online registration is heard in the U.S. and the UK.

Realistically, however, these fraudsters have been around for many years and apart from penile extensions and cut-rate Viagra, fake degrees are one of the original and compulsory forms of spam email. That said, it is incorrect to assume that the scammers are actually no better at providing more and more legitimate qualifications to find the place to commit outright fraud.

Then, in terms of maintaining faith in the social online education and distance, the public should be 100 percent clear that using a fake diploma or qualification fraud. An action that can be surprisingly difficult when one considers that the sale of fake academic qualifications only illegal in 11 states in the U.S. (according degreeboard.com). Maybe if these sellers are matched elsewhere in North America, we see perhaps the first steps to disseminate this knowledge, and at least stopping the curse of scammers, if they can not be completely stopped.

But then, I suppose we should ask ourselves why the U.S. should be the focus of a nationwide ban on such activities? For me the answer lies in the apparent fact that the rest of the world, particularly the United Kingdom, the claims of the U.S. make in online education, e-learning and open content – and especially the way it is socially and considered following the public. Thus, the higher education world verbetering of wide (and therein systems) seems now to be directly influenced by the modes and methoden die zijn gevestigd state side.
